Soon candidates will be required to make a self-introduction video of themselves for their potential employers to view.
In the past, employers from Korea have requested photos and a telephone conversation was sufficient.
These days, many employers are ALSO requesting self-introduction videos.
This is a great way for your employer to get to know you before hiring you.
Remember first impressions are VERY important.
How do you make a video?
You can record one yourself with a web cam.
What should the video contain?
You should introduction yourself. What is your name? Where are you from? What university did you go to? What degree do you have? What teaching experience do you have? What is your contact information? This is a great chance for your employer to get to know a little about you.
Also why are you the best candidate for the job?
The video should be a couple of minutes long.
You should look PROFESSIONALLY dressed.
Sit up straight. Shoulders back. Be confident!
SMILE!
Our schools are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and love working with kids so you should DEFINATELY express this throughout your video.
Directors are looking for candidates who are outgoing and excited about teaching in South Korea. I’m sure you are…but SHOW IT!
Things to avoid. You might be nervous but don’t show it. Don’t talk a mile a minute. You should speak clearly and make sure you pronunce your words.
You don’t have to make a new video for each job you apply for in Korea. You can just make a generic one about teaching in Korea.
Have fun with this! You can be a little creative but don’t get carried away. Stay on task. Your goal should be to best represent yourself so the employer hires YOU!
