No longer will a criminal record check from your local police station be sufficient.

After you get your federal criminal record check, it has to be notarized and apostillized. If you are from Canada, you have to take your criminal record check to the Korean embassy to get checked and notarized.

Also please note that your criminal record check should not be older than 3 months when you apply for your visa.

Just order it from your local police station.

How long does it take to get your criminal record check back?

It can take up to a few weeks.

After you receive it, you will either have to get it apostillized or notarized at the Korean embassy (depending on which country you are from).

Most schools prefer to hire candidates who do not have criminal records.

Depending on what you are convicted of, you may not even be able to work in Korea.
